Tom Gammons works largely in the unconventional medium of aerosol spray paint. These works come alive after hundreds of hours of applying layers upon layers of paint, masking, and a few secret techniques to the canvas. The process only reaches completion after masking
layers are removed, revealing, or “unveiling” the work or art beneath.
After being accepted to, and subsequently kicked out of Art School, Gammons turned his focus to the music world. Becoming a producer, remix artist, DJ, and fashion show music director, he also helmed his own band before becoming a tour manager. He continued to hone his artistic skills in between international tours and DJing commitments. After a series of tours with major label artists, and opening for acts like Bon Jovi, The Kooks, and Halsey, Gammons turned his focus away from music and back to the visual arts with renewed passion.
The first public art showing took place at Bugatti Campogalliano Italy, for the exclusive Invitation Only “Arte Auto Design” group show. Soon after he was asked to create and contribute a new work to a group show at the Brassworks Gallery in Portland Oregon USA. The
piece caught the eye of gallery curator Jen Dale, who interviewed Gammons and featured the newly created painting “New World Airport” on the website www.narrativepainting.net.
Multiple commissions from private collectors came soon after.
Currently based out of the Pacific Northwest United States, Gammons travels the globe seeking fresh inspiration and reference material for his works. His works reside in homes and private collections in New Zealand, Japan, Europe and the United States.
Tom likes doing cool shit and when possible, with cool people.
He skateboarded until gravity started winning more often than not, toured with some bands, DJ’d some warehouse raves, remixed some artists. Now he does art with spraypaint and zooms around in exotic cars all around the world.
In a continuing quest to do cool shit with cool people.
